The Torpedoes U13s (players born 2000 or later) team and parents headed south down the A12 last night to play our Eastern Water Polo League fixture against Colchester. If the game had been decided on just the 2nd quarter I would have been writing about a victory but alas the game is played over four quarters. Colchester started strongly in the 1st quarter taking a 4-0 lead. The first goal in the 2nd quarter brought a cheer from the Torpedoes parents as Billy scored our first goal. Colchester responded scoring twice then Nathan and Kate both scored to bring the score to 6-3 at half time. Unfortunately no more goals for Torpedoes in the match, Colchester scored 8 more goals despite the valiant efforts of Erin and Billy in the Torpedoes goal to secure a comfortable victory. For many of the younger players this was valuable match experience and from the looks of their smiles they all enjoyed it. For those interested in the stats here is the match sheet. 16th Mar u13s Colchester v SCT
Our U13s side entertained an Ipswich U13s side a Deben Pool on Saturday evening. It was a valiant performance by a young SCT side with two goals from Nathan, one a piece from Paige and Angus. This was only the 1st or 2nd ever competitive match for some of our players so well done to them and it was nice to see so many parents pool side. Match sheet here 8th Mar u13s SCT v Ipswich
A frustrating evening for our U15s outclassed by a much stronger side. Unlike Basildon last week at least Ipswich did field a mixed team, although do not remember there one girl player Dawn getting much match time. The Torpedoes gave it everything and again all our shots were attracted to the post or cross bar. In the end the Ipswich players strength, speed and tactics meant there was little Pheobe and then Erin could do to protect the Torpedoes goal despite both of them making a number of exceptional saves throughout the match. Only two more matches for this squad in EWPL this season which could be the last for some time. For those interested here is the match sheet 7th Mar u15s ipswich v SCT
